Best Coast, 'When I'm With You': Best Coast is an indie rock band out of Los Angeles, whose new album is self-described as being about weed, a cat and being lazy a lot. Who isn't familiar with that combination at some point in their life? Hazy, dreamy, and carefree, in other words, the sounds of a summer gone by.

I Guess D+ is Technically a Passing Grade: That "Drake Advantage" logo to the right is actually the new marketing campaign for Drake University, supposedly appealing to the sarcasm and irony of today's high school students by looking like a failing letter grade. The runner-up in the marketing campaign was reportedly the grammatical phrase, "Drink, Drake, Drunk."

The Gifts That Keep on Taking
: Anyone out there still think publicly financed sports stadiums are a good idea? Even stadiums that have been demolished still carry shocking amounts of debt for local residents to pay back. This chart is worth a look to show how much public debt is carried on each of the current NFL stadiums as well as some demolished ones.

Apparently in Soccer, the Hooker Plays to the Inside of the Center Half
: You know you are reading a sordid British tale when you come across the headline, "a series of romps with a £1,200-a-time hooker." That phrase needs to make it back to the states. Here's an example: watching A.J. Burnett pitching is like "a series of romps with a £1,200-a-time hooker." See, works like a charm.

It's a steal at $100 per inch
: Leave it up to the sons of the man who came up with the Reebok Pump and the light up LA Gear shoe to produce a $300 basketball shoe with patented "Load 'N Launch" technology, instantly increasing your vertical by more than three inches.

Bill Gates' Online Tutor: 33-year old Salman Kahn is a former hedge fund investor and Harvard MBA student that has been posting free online tutorials (now numbering over 1500) on a number of subjects that have been viewed by over 200,000 students from all over the globe. He started out posting videos on youtube to help tutor his cousin remotely in 2004, and now has gotten the attention of some of the world's richest entrepreneurs, including Bill Gates, who watches the tutorials with his 11-year old son. Pretty amazing stuff when you consider how many people can learn this way in the future. Check out some of his material at http://www.khanacademy.org/

I wonder how many fans were enticed to attend a Tennessee Smokies game based on this Beyonce "Singles Ladies" redo. Is it just me, or do you hear them calling themselves the Smokies Slutties as well?
