Do the Didier Drogba if you want to

Each month I download a few new albums in an effort to stay with it. Here are some recommendations:

Titus Andronicus: Monitor: Any album netting an 8.7 on Pitchfork is impressive in itself, one that does so while being a concept album based on the Civil War (what?) is certifiable. As an added bonus this New Jersey crew loves to keep the obscure references going. Here's a vid:

Local Natives: Gorilla Manor: The debut album from this group from Silverlake, Los Angeles was met with rave reviews as a West Coast Grizzly Bear. You can stream the album right off their website, and the album name Gorilla Manor is named after the Silverlake house where the band lived together. BBC One:

Surfer Blood: Astro Coast: The debut of these Floridians has been described as a great guitar album in the likes of Weezer's Blue disc. It interests me how bands come to their names. Imagine if Local Natives and Surfer Blood met each other and one of those Lost flashbacks occurred, keeping in the blinding light but minus the time travel. If the band's names got jumbled and they were all of a sudden named Local Blood and Surfer Natives, respectively, wouldn't that change your view of the way each should sound? I for one think this crew of thugs should officially be named "Surfer Natives."
